January 29th, 2009

I was, to really no one’s surprise, afraid for my life. As soon as the light switched to green, I zoomed forward, spotted where the courthouse was, as well as its parking lot, and immediately got the frak out of there. If there’s one part of New Jersey I’ll be happy to never visit again, it’s Paterson (at least the seven streets I saw, that is).

Question of the day: Do you do test drives too or just wing it the day of wherever it is you have to go?

I’m sticking with you
‘Cos I’m made out of glue
Anything that you might do
I’m gonna do too

Yet another magazine off to the graveyard

As seen via philreed here, the CCG gaming magazine Scrye will cease publication after its April 2009 issue:

Dear Scrye Contributor:

We at F+W Media continuously analyze our publishing strategy to determine if we are meeting our readers' needs and company goals. We take into consideration the marketplace we serve and the opportunities available for each of our magazine titles.

After much analysis and deliberation, we have determined to cease publication of Scrye magazine; the final issue will be the April 2009 edition, issue #131.

You may have specific questions about what has happened, and we have attempted to answer some general concerns below. If you have additional questions or concerns, feel free to e-mail me at joyce.greenholdt@fwmedia.com.

You have helped provide our readers with a consistent supply of information, instruction, and entertainment. On behalf of everyone at Scrye Magazine, I would like to thank you for your contributions to the magazine.

Best Regards,
Joyce Greenholdt, Editor

Blargh. I never subscribed to the magazine, but I often picked up a copy at my local brick-and-mortar or perused through it while downing a coffee drink. InQuest never really did it for me, and Scrye kept me up to date on Magic the Gathering, Lord of the Rings TCG, MagiNation, D&D, latest RPG happenings, and so on over the years. Sad to see it go. Sad to see so many magazines dying in these troubled times. Maybe small press will now become "big" press so long as it never overachieves. I don't know. This is all just bumming me out...

Lately, I feel like I shouldn't be allowed to have a blog.

I'm just no good at it.
